“Members caring for members in need….”
| Ministry | Description | Contact Info |
| Bereavement Ministry | Bereavement Ministry supports MPPC members who have experienced the death of a spouse, mother, father, sibling, or child. The ministry coordinator sends a letter to the member offering a set of grief books to help the family through the first year after the loss. The letter also includes the name of a designated individual that will contact the family to give the grief books quarterly. | Sue Morris suemorris36@att.net Home: 971-2027 |
| Care Team Ministry | A Care Team is a group of volunteers working together to offer practical, emotional, and spiritual support to individuals and families with health care concerns or other special needs. The family undergoes a “needs assessment” and mutually agrees to the tasks to be performed. Some tasks include meals, yard work, grocery shopping, prayer, etc. The care team may also enlist the services of other church ministries. | Jo Lemmons 881-1155/ 991-7941 |
| Comfort Food Ministry | Comfort Food Ministry makes a personal contact with MPPC members who have experienced the death of a spouse, mother, father, sibling, or child. The ministry offers a hot meal to be delivered to the member’s home at their convenience. Nearly 50 ministry volunteers are contacted by email as a need arises and reply if they would like to help with the particular meal (volunteers average helping with two meals a year). Recognizing that each death situation is unique, this ministry will also coordinate and oversee a large family meal or small reception honoring any deceased MPPC member. | Sally Tucker sft255@bellsouth.net Lisa Hay Rmarsh@aol.com Coleman Legerton colelege@gmail.com Home: 849-0865 |
Hospital Visitation | The Hospital Visitation’s purpose is to regularly visit the hospitals on a scheduled basis and to express the love and support of our church during difficult times. Church members serve on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This ministry is very rewarding for all who participate and reflects Jesus’ love and compassion for the sick. | Dick Query Home:849-6212 Cell: 345-6738 |
Homebound Communion and Visitation Ministry | This ministry is responsible for ministering to the congregation's homebound members (that is, persons who have difficulty leaving their place of residence and may need assistance). Three or four times a year, members of this ministry oversee the process of serving communion in the homes of these members. A goal of this ministry is to organize a schedule of general visitation to the homebound members. This ministry should be updated regarding members who have become homebound. | |
Soul Food Ministry | Soul Food Ministry provides meals to MPPC families who have experienced some type of a hardship. Examples include accidents, surgery, cancer treatments, a fall with broken bones, etc (meals in response to a death are covered under Comfort Ministries). Nearly 30 ministry volunteers are contacted by email as a need arises and reply if they would like to help with the particular meal. | Lauren Vicars laurenvicars@gmail.com Home: 437-4823 |
Stephen Ministry | Stephen Ministry supports MPPC ministers with their Pastoral Care responsibilities. It provides one-on-one confidential caring relationships between Stephen Ministers and people requesting care. Extensive training is required for Stephen Ministers. This ministry is not restricted to MPPC members. | Will Whitsett wwhitsett@bellsouth.net Phone: 906-2237 |
| Deacons | Each member of MPPC is assigned a deacon. The role of the deacons is to enhance communication between and within our congregation. Not only are deacons a contact point to provide information to members regarding programs and services provided by the church, but deacons also facilitate the flow of information from members regarding care needs they may have or of which they may be aware. | Evie Evans Home:

| Baby Guild | The new Baby Guild partners with and cares for new parents to serve and support members before, during, and after the birth or adoption of a child. The members of the Baby Guild share in your joy during this time of change in the life of your family. The committee may deliver the rose from the sanctuary, provide a meal, encourage networking within the church to form social groups and Bible studies, provide a bulletin board to post photographs and announcements, and to try to accommodate any particular need. | Jennifer Horton 224-7140 |
| Cancer Club | Share all the concerns of cancer patients and their families and helping them cope with the side effects of having cancer. Emotions, radiation, losing hair, chemo, losing weight, numbness in feet and hands are just some of the discussions. Often speakers come to a meeting with an informative lecture. | Ginny Fields 209-4410 |
Neighborhood Ministries | A new ministry just forming based on neighborhoods, as neighbors to be away of what is happening with your neighbors who are members of our church. As you walk or drive by their homes, be aware if you see or hear of needs that the church may not know about. Tell us about a crisis, concern, or celebration. | Jo Lemmons 881-1155/ 991-7941 |
| Transportation Ministry | Transportation Ministry will provide weekly transportation to and from the 11:15 am worship service to members who cannot drive or have no other means of transportation. | Evie Evans capitulate517@aol.com Home: 881-3483 Cell: 270-8550 |
