BIBLE BOOMERS

Where: in Seabrook 211 NEW LOCATION

We are currently wrapping up a study of Revelation. In Bible BOOMERS (an acronym that has long been forgotten) you will be equipped and engaged! Together we enjoy studying and discussing the meaning of Scripture (New and Old Testament) and finding relevance in it to our own lives and the culture in which we live. It’s a Bible study on Sunday mornings led by 2.25 knowledgeable teachers. Our approach is academic and includes historical, cultural and theological contexts. We’ll even help you brush up on your Greek. Just kidding... There is no entrance requirement and we recently suspended the hazing for newcomers. Actually, you don’t have to know anything about the Bible to get involved in BOOMERS! So ask yourself, are you a heady Presbyterian of any age? Are you looking for something more to fill you mind and heart beyond 5th grade Bible School stories? If so, join us every Sunday in our new location: Grace Hall, room 122!

Facilitator(s): Freeman Milligan (fhmilligandesign  [at] bellsouth.net)

CHRISTIAN PARENTING 101:

Where: in Seabrook 222

Parents of all ages are encouraged to join us each Sunday morning as we seek God’s wisdom and instruction on how to raise our children in a way that is pleasing to Him.  Whether its toddlers or teenagers we are parenting, God’s instructions are in His Word – we just need to dig into it to find them.  Our textbook is the Bible – we’re currently studying the Book of Acts, looking for God’s principles and truths and discussing how we are to apply them to this mysterious and often challenging thing we know as parenting.

Facilitator(s):  Frank & Jenny Conway (388-8613 theconways [at] bellsouth.net)

HEAD AND HEART: The Emerging Christian Paradigm

NEW CLASS

Where: in Grace Hall 220

Study the movement to interpret the Bible through metaphorical, historical and sacramental perspectives. Learn what it means to live the faith, not just to have a set of beliefs. As a maturing Christian, have you ever questioned how you have been taught to interpret the Bible as a literal-factual text? What if the story of Adam and Eve is interpreted as a metaphor about creation and God’s plan for relationships? What if Jonas and the Wale is a story that tells a truth from God for us all?  How much more glorious the message that emerges through the Holy Spirit for living a Christian life. Are you interested in squaring your Christian beliefs with what you know as an educated, intellectual professional? Join us on September 18, 2011 to kick off this new, adult church school class.
