Janet Washington is a 33 year old mother of five. Janet works two jobs to support her family, full-time as a certified medical assistant with Sandlapper Pediatrics, and part-time providing home health care. Janet’s oldest son, Keith (17), is a senior at
The family’s current residence is in poor condition, and their landlord is unwilling to make many of the necessary repairs, so the family is forced to fix things as their budget allows. They have had a poorly functioning septic system, which causes raw sewage and water to build up in the front yard, which has made it impossible for the children to play in the front yard. The back yard is close to a busy street, so they are only able to play there with direct supervision.
