WORSHIP MINISTRIES

at Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church

Worship is the cornerstone of our life here at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian.  It connects us to God and to one another; it rejuvenates us for the Christian work of our daily lives and is an outpouring of our thanks for all the good gifts God has given to us.  In worship we learn, we respond and we participate.   We give back to God our best praise and thanks.  Our worship style has been referred to as "relaxed traditional" and incorporates the rich heritage of the Presbyterian worship practices with a flare for making faith relevant for today's culture.

Worship Ministries shall be responsible for planning and oversight of the church's worship and music in acknowledging God's presence in the world and life. It will facilitate the session's responsibility to provide for the worship of the people of God, including the preaching of the Word, the sharing of the Sacraments, and for the music program in keeping with the principles in the Directory for Worship, and to appeal to the presbytery for the duly trained and authorized elder under the provisions of G-11.0103 in those extenuating circumstances where an ordained minister of the Word and Sacrament is not available to meet the needs for the administration of the Lord's Supper. (Form of Government G-10.0102d.)

 Adult Choir

Wednesday rehearsals, 7:00 -- 8:30 p.m.

The Adult Choir sings larger seasonal works as well as weekly anthems in the 11:15 worship service.  The highlights this year will include performing a Christmas Cantata, particpating in the Artist in Residence weekend and leading in one of the Christmas Eve services of "Lessons and Carols."

Men's Chorus & Women's Choir

These very popular groups have grown out of the Adult Choir. Their leadership in worship adds variety to either the 8:15 or 11:15 services.

Kirk Choir

Sunday rehearsals, 8:30 am

This choir is ideal for the person whose schedule is less regular, with only a Sunday morning rehearsal which emphases the anthem for that Sunday.   This group provides leadership in the 9:45 am worship service.  There will be opportunities to join with the Adult Choir and lead at special services.

SAge Choir

Thursday rehearsals, 10:30 -- 11:30 am (during school year)

Geared for those singers who enjoy rehearsing during the day, this group will sing monthly in worship.  Each rehearsal will incorporate fellowship, singing of favorite hymns and a prayer/devotion time.

Adult Handbell Choir

Monday rehearsals, 5:30 -- 6:30 pm (during school year)

The Adult Handbell Choir shares monthly in worship.  This is a fun group of people who love to ring and are intermediate to advanced players.

Celebration Handbell Choir

Monday rehearsals, 6:45 -- 7:45 pm (during the school year)

This group is geared for beginning to intermediate ringers.  Ringing monthly in worship, this choir is full of dedicated people who would love to welcome you at whatever level or experience you have.
